Terms of Service

SplitGas (“the Service”) is a carpool gas cost calculator and cost-sharing tool operated by Sawary Trading LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement. The Service is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

SplitGas calculates an estimated gas cost for a carpool trip based on vehicle fuel economy data (fueleconomy.gov), current regional gas prices from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (US users) or Natural Resources Canada (Canadian users), and trip distance you provide. It then divides that estimate equally among the number of riders you specify.

SplitGas does not process, hold, or transfer any money. Payments between drivers and riders happen entirely outside this Service (e.g., via Venmo, Zelle, Interac e-Transfer, or cash). We have no role in and no liability for those transactions. SplitGas is a cost-sharing calculator, not a commercial ride service.

All cost estimates are approximations. Actual fuel costs depend on driving style, traffic, vehicle condition, and real-time fuel prices that may differ from EIA weekly averages. Gas price forecasts provided by AI features are informational only and are not financial advice. You agree not to rely on these estimates for financial, legal, or tax purposes.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@splitgas.app if you suspect unauthorized access. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

SplitGas offers a free trial period followed by an optional paid subscription. Billing is handled by Stripe, Inc. Subscription fees are charged in advance on a recurring basis. You may cancel at any time through the Account page; access continues until the end of the current billing period. All fees are non-refundable except where required by law.

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any commercial transportation or ride-for-hire purpose
• Scrape, reverse-engineer, or attempt to extract the underlying data or algorithms
• Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information
• Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law

All content, features, and functionality of the Service are owned by Sawary Trading LLC and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our prior written consent.

The Service integrates with third-party providers including Google Firebase, Stripe, Google Gemini AI, the U.S. Department of Energy (EIA.gov), the U.S. Department of Energy's fueleconomy.gov, and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) for Canadian gas prices. Your use of those services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the content or practices of any third-party service.

Users may create rider accounts to view trip cost breakdowns logged by drivers they are connected with. Riders consent to receiving trip data (vehicle type, route distance, gas price, cost breakdown) from linked drivers. Riders cannot access driver personal information beyond what is displayed in trip breakdowns. Riders may disconnect from a driver at any time.

Users may create or join carpool groups using invite codes. Group creators are responsible for managing membership. All group members can view shared trip history and net balances. Group deletion by the creator removes access for all members but preserves individual linked trip records. Free/trial users are limited to 1 group with up to 3 members. Paid users may create unlimited groups with up to 10 members each.

Leaderboard participation is voluntary and opt-in only. By opting in, you consent to your username and monthly trip count being visible to other authenticated users in your state or province. You may opt out at any time in Account Settings.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT ANY DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SAWARY TRADING LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved by binding arbitration in Sheridan County, Wyoming, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction. For Canadian users, provincial consumer protection laws may apply in addition to Wyoming law to the extent required by applicable legislation.

New accounts receive a free trial with full access to all features. Trial duration varies by promotion (7–30 days). No credit card is required to start a trial. When the trial expires, certain features (trip logging, AI narratives, rider management) will be restricted until you subscribe. The calculator remains free and unrestricted indefinitely.

We reserve the right to modify the trial length or terms for future accounts. Any changes will not affect active trials already in progress.

If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our designated agent at hello@splitgas.app with: (a) a description of the copyrighted work, (b) identification of the infringing material, (c) your contact information, (d) a statement of good-faith belief, and (e) a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on their behalf.

We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, pandemics, government actions, power failures, internet or telecommunications outages, cyberattacks, or third-party service provider failures (including EIA.gov, Firebase, or Stripe outages).

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new Terms and updating the effective date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
